We are the founders of MorMed Medical. What started as a small idea on our way back from a Cape Town trip in early 2024 has grown into something far bigger than we ever imagined. Our very first course was meant to be just a few casual Zoom sessions, but the interest exploded! Before we knew it, we were scrambling to put together a Wix website and some rather rough PowerPoint slides. We’ve definitely come a long way since those early days!
These days, we’re constantly dreaming up new ideas and developing fresh courses — there’s always something exciting on the go.
A little fun fact about us: we met during our Community Service year in Sabie, Mpumalanga. After getting married, we took a year off to travel through Africa and Europe — and came back with no money, but a lifetime’s worth of memories!
I’m not a doctor — I’m a dietitian who works in NICU and paediatrics. I also like to think of myself as a researcher — believe it or not, I’ve even published a few Emergency Medicine papers!
That said, I’m not really the one behind the course content — my role is more on the admin and organisation side of things. So if you’ve got any questions or need help with something, chances are you’ll be chatting with me.
A little fun fact about me: I grew up in the Kruger National Park, I’m still a big CrossFit fan, and I’m a proud mom of two beautiful daughters.
I’m an Emergency Medicine consultant and the creator of the DipPEC Bootcamp. I’ve always had a passion for teaching and helping junior doctors grow. Over time, I realised I was sitting on a wealth of knowledge that could really make a difference for those preparing for their DipPEC exams — especially since good resources are so hard to find!
That’s how the DipPEC Bootcamp was born — a focused course designed to give you everything you need to pass your exam with confidence. Seeing how much it’s helped so many of you has been very rewarding.
And a few fun facts about me: I’ve climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, I’m a huge sports fan, and — believe it or not — I’ve met Arnold Schwarzenegger!
I’m a medical doctor with a deep passion for internal medicine and medical education. I hold an MBBS (Cum Laude) from Shandong University Cheeloo College of Medicine, a Diploma in Primary Emergency Care (DipPEC) with distinction, and have passed the Fellowship of the College of Physicians of South Africa (FCP Part I) with distinction. I have also completed PLAB 1 & 2 and hold full GMC (UK) registration.
I am driven by a commitment to making postgraduate medical education more accessible, structured, and concept driven. Through my teaching initiatives and content development, I aim to simplify complex material while maintaining academic rigour, helping doctors not only pass but truly understand the principles that underpin clinical reasoning.
As the founder of Pass My Boards SA, I’m excited to have created this comprehensive FCP Part I QBank, developed out of a genuine need for more structured, high-quality, and syllabus-aligned resources for South African trainees. The project combines evidence-based design with detailed explanations and blueprint accuracy, reflecting my belief that good learning tools should teach both what to think and how to think.
Outside medicine, I’m an avid sports enthusiast and enjoy snake hunting, a hobby that keeps me grounded, adventurous, and always curious about the natural world.

Originally from Cape Town, Mariette relocated to KwaZulu-Natal 25 years ago and has built a broad and practical career in anaesthesia.
After early work experience in trauma, emergency medicine, and obstetrics, she specialised in anaesthesia and obtained her FCA (SA) in 2012. Mariette currently works as a consultant at a regional hospital, where she manages a wide spectrum of cases spanning district to tertiary-level care.
Her clinical interests include obstetric anaesthesia, trauma, and ICU, and she has developed a strong reputation as a versatile, hands-on clinician. Alongside her clinical work, she is deeply committed to training junior doctors, having spent over a decade mentoring interns and DA candidates through a well-established and highly regarded teaching programme. She also brings valuable insight as an DA examiner and past organizer of DA examinations.
As a course coordinator, Mariette focuses on simplifying complex concepts, strengthening foundational knowledge, and guiding learners toward safe, confident clinical practice. Outside of medicine, she is a proud mom to her children and her Labrador, Heidi, and brings that same supportive, “mother hen” approach to her teaching.

He enjoys exploring the outdoors and sharing a love of nature and travel with his family. If not in medicine, Andrew imagines he might have pursued life as a pilot or an entrepreneur. In fact, he still might!
Hi! We are Dr Joanne Hughes and Dr Michelle Schmidt. Over the last few years we have developed a passion for learning and understanding HIV and TB care.
Our question-bank is designed as a learning tool for diploma applicants to use as an additional resource throughout their studying. After each relevant EPA/ chapter, a set of applied questions awaits you to help test your new knowledge. We look forward to keeping this updated as the guidelines change and new research is published!
Having worked in a rural hospital for the last 3 years I have seen first-hand the impact that family medicine-based care can have on our large population of people living with HIV. I am inspired to learn and do more! When I have free time, you can usually find me at the beach or painting with watercolours. I’m a real people-person and absolutely love connecting with others!
I’m a Research medical officer in Cape Town with a massive passion for quality HIV care. I love expanding my knowledge on new HIV breakthroughs such as novel HIV prevention methods becoming available in South Africa. When I’m not working you’ll find me walking my 3 golden retrievers!
